As summer winds down, we’re just getting started

By: Amy VanScoter

As the summer winds down, I’m feeling reflective about all that’s been happening at Infinite Love Yoga. We are just halfway through our first year after I founded the LLC last fall and obtained the studio lease on January 1, 2024. So much has already happened yet, as a new business owner, I am also excited for all that is still ahead.

The year started with fresh paint, redecorating, and lots of plants. Planting, repotting, and moving in new plants was a fulfilling process and helps create our beautiful and sacred space. I spend time every week with each plant, watering, trimming, talking to, and tending to them. It brings me great joy to share them with you all. I know that they are just as aware of all of us as we are of them.

Building community is important and so is expanding access to yoga. I’ve been out and about co-hosting events downtown at The Dollhouse at Pointe Foure and Purrista Cat Cafe to give you more opportunities to practice, relax with friends, and have fun.  I also collaborated with Compassionate Hart Massage in a wellness program, teaching yoga classes at USCRI-Erie. A children’s yoga program with the students attending the after school program at Sister Gus’ Kids Cafe is ongoing and continuing as well. Yoga in more spaces means that even more people are able to learn about and access the benefits of this ancient practice.

We expanded our offerings at the studio this summer to include reiki with DaVona of Flow Freely, and Liz Keane. Reiki is a wonderful healing energy practice that can serve as a compliment to your regular yoga practice or as a stand alone self-care practice. I have experienced reiki with both DaVona and Liz, and attended the reiki circles myself. I highly recommend them both.  Reiki circles also help to build community and often end with guest of the circle sharing their thoughts and experiences.

Although we are a new studio, word is starting to get out. We appreciate you all sharing referrals and your tags on social media. We were featured in the Erie Reader in an article about the Studios at St. Mary’s, and in the Erie Times News and the Emmaus Ministries newsletter, The Companion, about the classes with Sister Gus’ Kids Cafe students.

Of course, we can’t forget to mention my best girl, Shanti, who earned her therapy dog certification this summer and can provide her love and support to your Thursday evening practice. I’ll write more about the benefits of animal therapy in a future post.

And just when you feel like you are all caught up, know that there is so much more in the works & already planned for you this fall and winter. We are all excited to continue connecting with you in a safe, welcoming space. We appreciate all the love and support. Thank you for practicing with us.
